DIY: Hot Caps from Used Milk Jugs

Share

What are “hot caps” in case you don't already know.

A sudden frost can ruin a crop that has been a while in the making.  We love repurpose projects no matter the size and in this diy you will learn how you  young crop from a Spring frost  using hot caps made from milk jugs. Have you ever seen those gigantic heater-fans on strawberry fields before?  I have seen them throughout Oxnard, CA, as well as other fruit fields in my travels in that area of the country.

A lot of time and money goes into planting a new crop and the last thing a farmer wants is to lose them to a Spring frost.  Well, this isn't quite the same thing but its serves a similar purpose. If you have some old jugs or want to start collecting them now before you plant, it might be a good idea.

Our thanks to those farmers whose hard work hard to  provide local food to their communities!
