Featured: Radio Communications After a Disaster

I found this primer article that mentions radio options you should consider for grid-down events. If you don't have your HAM Radio license yet, I strongly urge you to find a nearby class & get it. It's so simple to get started…you get to study the pool of possible questions & you'll know the correct answer ahead of time. It's memorization!

I'm hoping to get my General class later this year. Find a class near you HERE.

I took a class at the local college. I studied for and passed all the tests up to and including Extra. I had nothing to begin with except some military experience operating radios. You really do get to see the test questions ahead of time.On the Technician and General exams, you study a pool of 150 questions each and then take the tests, which consist of 35 questions each. For the Extra exam, there is a pool of 200 questions, 50 of which will be on the test. If you take a class like I did, you’ll have plenty help and you’ll go into the exams quite confident of passing. There is no longer a Morse code requirement. Get started today. It’s fun. Bob K4RDG
