A Well Stocked First Aid Kit

What to Put in a First Aid Kit

First Aid KitOne of the most important things that needs to be included in your emergency preparedness is a well-appointed first aid kit. At the site A Bowl Full of Lemons a registered nurse shows you what she puts in her first aid kit. There have been many times I have been thankful that I had my first aid kit close by.

What really impresses me with her first aid kit is that she organizes the medications in separate containers according to what they treat. Did someone get bitten by an insect? What you need is in the Allergy and Bites container. Does someone have stomach issues? The Bowels and Belly container will probably have what you need. Someone suffer a cut? The wound management container is stocked with bandages, gauze, antiseptic ointment and anything else that will help dress the wound.

Be sure to include a reference manual that you can look up health issues in case there is no electricity and you can't look it up on the internet.

As with all things, the kit can be personalized for you and your family so that the health needs of everyone can be taken into account.

Do you have a well-stocked first aid kit? What do you put in it that is particularly useful? I have a bit of candy in mine, just to lift the spirits of the person who is in need of medical attention. If you don't have a first aid kit, put one together today!
