Description

The Royal Berkey is a powerful system that purifies both treated water and untreated raw water from such sources as remote lakes, streams, stagnant ponds and water supplies in foreign countries, where regulations may be substandard at best.  Perfect for outdoor activities and a must in hostile environments where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.

The Royal Berkey® system removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites entirely and extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes.  It also reduces nitrates, nitrites and unhealthy minerals such as lead and mercury. This system is so powerful it can remove red food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.

Constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel, the system comes complete with two purification elements and utilizes the latest technological advances. This system has a storage capacity of about 3.25 gallons (12.3 liters) and when in use it stands 23” in height with a diameter of 9.5”. The upper chamber nests within the lower chamber for transport and stands only 15.25” in height.

Configured with two Black Berkey® purification elements the system will purify up to 4 Gallons (15.1 liters) per hour*. This system can be expanded to use four purification elements and is capable of purifying up to 8 Gallons (30.3 liters) per hour*.

*Flow rate calculated with upper chamber full to top. Flow rate decreases as water level declines.

This System includes the New Berkey® Quick-Start Kit:

  • Prime Rite™ Universal Adapter (Only for use with faucet)
  • Prime Rite™ Fluoride Element Adapter
  • Anti-Airlock Clip
  • 2 Red Food Dye Vials

My royal berkey is amazing. I purchased mine last year and now I dont know how I ever did without it.

The royal berkey performs as promised. Our water comes from a well and smells like sulfur but the royal berkey filters it perfectly – the water is clear and odorless.

I recommend the berkey’s to anyone who is without clean water.

Our Imperial Berkey is great. We had Aqua Rain Water filtration system which claimed to be better than Berkey. But after years of using it, I am delighted to get the original. It is beautiful, works very well for our family of 6. We have well water and are grateful not to have to buy so much bottled water. Now I’m planning to try the stand and the water level spigot. Water filtration is very fast with the 2 black filters. Very pleased with this invaluable product.

I took my family’s average water usage and did some math and found that my filters will last several years longer than what I originally expected. This is THE system to own. We do not have to worry about getting potable water ever. We recently had a boil water advisory in our area and while everyone was panicking trying to get drinking water boiled or bought at the store, there we were with our filter system pouring the “boil only” water right into our Berkey and enjoying clean drinking water without a second thought. I love our Berkey and wish we could get these in every home. If you have a family and are awake enough to know what is going on in the world around you and with our ground water how can you not put drinking water at the top of your list?

The Royal Berkey is Amazing ! I bought it for emergency preparedness , but I’m using it daily to filter my tap water that comes from Patoka Lake in Southern Indiana and it makes great tasting water and the kids love it ! They call it the magic water maker 🙂 It’s easy to set up and works great with the added fluoride/arsenic removal filters to remove the unnecessary fluoride that the water companies think we need to drink daily even though we’ve been told since we were kids to never swallow our toothpaste. I can’t say enough about how happy I am with the system and I’m glad I heard about the Berkey Guy on TSP’s podcast. If you’re looking for a easy and amazing way to filter water this is it !

We’ve had our Royal Berkey with PF2 filters for 5 months now and my wife and I together consume about 1-1.25 gallons a day on average. We live approximately two miles from the local city water treatment plant.

The Good: From our first use until today we’ve noticed things like coffee, tea, and flavored drink mixes taste noticeably stronger than they were with straight city water, or water from our Dupont faucet filter. Their color is darker as well. So we’re not using as much of these products to get even stronger and better flavor from them. For pure refreshment it’s hard to beat a glass of the Berkey filtered water straight out of the fridge though!

The Bad: It took approximately 30-40 gallons of use after properly purging out the filters under pressure exactly as described before we didn’t find the water to have a baking soda taste and film to it. It’s cleared up 90% from the first few weeks, but does still have a very small, almost undetectable amount of taste and residue from the PF2 filters even after purging them under pressure a second time.

How long do the filter systems last under normal (daily) use? I see that they come with two filters – how long should those last?

How long do the filters last under daily, non-emergency use? I see they purifiers come with two filters – how long should those last?

2 Black Berkey Elements will last up to 6000 gallons, or we have seen that they last atleast for 2-3 years of usage.

  8. Cp

Never buy bottled water again. If one properly primes the filters there is no residue in the water.

  9. Troy (verified owner)

Work great. Had ours a year with 2 black and 2 fluoride filters.
Does not get all the hard water flavor out of our very hard well water but definitely drinkable expecially after a run through a Brita we keep in the fridge. We used to use gallons of spring water to cook with and make ice, not anymore. We save us at least 30 – 40 dollars a month. Definitely paid for the 2 black filters and royal berkey the first year. We are ordering a new set of black filters and back flushing the old ones so we have a set of 4 for faster filtration. They have slowed over time but still filter well. Would love a whole house option for in line filtration.

We have had the Royal Berkey for many years. It’s works wonderfully. We live in the middle of Illinois farm country and draw our water from a shallow well that tests positive for nitrates and nitrites. We used to fill 5 gallon bottles at the grocery store. Then we used Pur filtration bottles. I was finally able to buy the Berkey system. What a relief. I don’t worry so much about getting the drainage from the farm chemicals in my water. We are a family of four with higher than normal waster usage. Our children are handicapped and require home nurses so we use more that the average family.

I know the filters seem expensive but they are really worth it if you compare the difference in what is filtered from your water. You can’t put river water in a Pur filter and get drinking water out. These are great to have if you are a prepper too, if you can find water you can filter it and have drinking water.

I did add the 10 in glass tube to mine so I didn’t have to tap on the side or look inside to see if I needed to add water. I had previously overfilled the Berkey and had water running over the counter. HA!

I have to change my filters once a year. They usually stop draining at that time.

We are very happy with this system. Thank you for the filter sales. I usually buy two years worth when you have them.

This system is definitely worth the initial investment.
