Description
The Imperial Berkey is a powerful system that is perfect for outdoor activities and a must in hostile environments where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.
The Imperial Berkey® system extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes. It also reduces nitrates, nitrites and unhealthy minerals such as lead and mercury. This system is so powerful it can remove red food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.
Constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel, the system comes complete with two purification elements and utilizes the latest technological advances. This system has a storage capacity of about 4.5 gallons (17 liters) and when in use it stands 25.75” in height with a diameter of 10”. The upper chamber nests within the lower chamber for transport and stands only 17” in height.
Configured with two Black Berkey® purification elements the system will purify up to 5.5 Gallons (20.8 liters) per hour*. This system can be expanded to use six purification elements and is capable of purifying up to 16.5 Gallons (62.5 liters) per hour*.
*Flow rate calculated with upper chamber full to top. Flow rate decreases as water level declines.
This System includes the New Berkey® Quick-Start Kit:
- Prime Rite™ Universal Adapter (Only for use with faucet)
- Prime Rite™ Fluoride Element Adapter

First, I must say that it is a good product and I do recommend it. My wife can’t stand the taste of water from most all water filters but we recently moved to an area that has horrible water (no choice). We considered all types and manufacturers. Even though this type is expensive, I wanted to make sure we got something good and sometimes (not always) price does speak volumes. Well, that and the reviews. I do wish the metal was a little thicker and that the spout was sturdier but overall I (and my wife) are very satisfied. Another bonus is the ability to nest for storage/transport as my job requires frequent moves. I did have to make a slight adjustment to the hole for the spout. I had to simply flatten the ‘can’ slightly in that area – it was a case of a flat surface mating to a round surface. The rubber gasket supplied was too thin to make up the difference. No big deal really, and probably not necessary if I would have given it more time to settle.

Being in the military we have to move quite regularly and sometimes that forces us to have to settle for a place to live. With that sometimes comes having to deal with different water situations. With our current situation the water we have has a distinct chlorine taste and smell to it. After getting the Imperial system set up it with the additional PP2 fluoride filters, I was eagerly looking forward to our first glass of water. I must admit I was not disappointed at all. We find that we are drinking more water as a family, which is better for us. It did take a little getting used to going to the filter instead of the faucet but wow what a difference it is. Even friends of ours comment that they like our water better.
