Almost 48 hours after the local water department issued a Boil Water Alert, they have called the water advisory notice to an end. Coliform bacteria was found in the water and the water advisory was supposed to have been issued to residents of the service area by a reverse-911 phone system. Unfortunately, the system crashed before making all the calls and some residents did not receive the notice.
The Nyack water department opted to add chlorine to the water supply in order to combat the Coliform bacteria and prevent it from continuing to circulate, posing a health risk to the community of over seven-thousand residents*.
