What is the point? If you have the lighter and the paper why anything else?

Thanks for the comment, Vincent. Paper and a lighter are considered fire starters. They are not able to sustain a flame to provide adequate heat for warmth, cooking, or disinfecting quantities of items. It is recommended that you have an adequate fuel source to sustain the fire.

This is more of an improvised candle. A fire starter is a lighter, or flint striker, or piston starter. They actually start the fire. I guess this would be useful if you only had paper for tinder. The paper itself would burn up too quickly before your wood started burning. but usually where there is wood there is tinder. If you have wood fuel already you could shave some down with a knife to make some tinder.
